Workwear is a very strong fabric made of a cotton-polyester blend in a twill weave. The name says it all: this fabric is suitable for work clothes. Think of sturdy trousers and shirts, aprons for the kitchen, jackets, overalls and dungarees.
You can also use this fabric for, for example, outdoor cushions, although you should not leave them in the rain.
Use a thick needle (universal or jeans from thickness 80) for stitching. For extra strength, topstitch the seams with a topstitch needle and thicker thread.
